Dell Computer Audio: Echo or Double Words
If speech material sounds doubled or has an echo when using a Dell computer with your audiology system, the DDX support reference Double speech Driver update, circulated under “Dell Speech Fix Natus,” lists the following possible solutions.
1. Turn Mono Audio Off
- Open Windows Sound settings.
- Open Ease of Access audio settings.
- Turn Mono Audio off.
- Check whether speech playback is now correct.
2. Disable Dell Optimizer
The reference also lists disabling Dell Optimizer as an alternative solution.
3. Update the Realtek Audio Driver
The reference includes Realtek High Definition Audio Driver 6.0.9597.1 for Windows 10 21H2 64-bit. This is the original third-party driver reference; it is not a universal driver for all Dell models or Windows versions. Confirm compatibility with DDX or Dell support before installing.
