Audiometer Calibration Prep Checklist for Clinics
Before a scheduled audiometer calibration, a few minutes of preparation can help your clinic avoid delays and give the technician a clear picture of the instrument and its accessories.
Before your appointment
- Identify every instrument. Gather the manufacturer, model and serial number for each device requiring service.
- Locate the accessories you use with it. Set aside the headphones, insert earphones, bone oscillator, probes, cables and power supply that belong with the instrument. Label accessories when more than one device is involved.
- Record symptoms. Note intermittent channels, damaged cords, probe or transducer issues, unusual test results and error messages. Tell the technician about recent repairs or accessory replacements.
- Make the setup accessible. Provide a clear work surface, power outlet and, where relevant, access to the connected computer and software. Have your clinic's login or IT contact available if needed.
- Plan for downtime. Ask which appointments depend on the instrument and arrange a backup or schedule service around patient care.
- Keep previous records handy. Provide the last calibration report or service history if available, along with any school, employer or facility documentation requirements.
For mail-in service
Start with our mail-in request form and wait for shipping instructions. Include the accessories needed to reproduce the issue, and pack the instrument and each accessory securely. Do not include patient records or protected health information.
